Effective from 19 October 2026
Csali Hungária Zrt. (“we”, “us” or the “Controller”) is committed to protecting personal data. This notice explains which personal data we process when you use the maggotcompote.com website (the “Website”) or contact us, for what purposes and on what legal basis, for how long, and what rights you have. It is based on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”) and Hungarian Act CXII of 2011 on informational self-determination and freedom of information.

2. What data we process and why
2.1. Requests for offers or samples, general enquiries (form, e-mail, phone)
- Data
- name, company name, e-mail address, country, type of business, type of request (sample / offer / other), the content of your message, Website language; for phone enquiries, your phone number. For messages sent via the form we also record the time of sending and the sender’s IP address in order to detect abuse (e.g. unsolicited automated messages).
- Purpose
- to answer your enquiry, send product samples or a quotation, prepare a business relationship and keep in contact.
- Legal basis
- our legitimate interest in answering business enquiries and communicating with our partners (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you request an offer on your own behalf (e.g. as a sole trader), the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract). Providing the data is voluntary, but we cannot reply without it.
- Retention
- if no business relationship arises, 1 year after the enquiry is closed; if a business relationship arises, for its duration and 5 years after it ends (general limitation period under the Hungarian Civil Code). Correspondence that supports an accounting record is kept for 8 years under Section 169 of Hungarian Act C of 2000 on Accounting.
2.2. Operation of the Website (server log files)
- Data
- the visitor’s IP address, time of visit, address of the page viewed, browser and operating system type, referring page. The hosting provider’s server records these automatically for every website.
- Purpose
- secure and uninterrupted operation of the Website, troubleshooting, prevention of attacks and abuse.
- Legal basis
- our legitimate interest in operating the Website securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Retention
- for the period set in the hosting provider’s (Tárhely.Eu Szolgáltató Kft.) system as necessary for secure operation, after which the log files are deleted automatically. To protect the form against flooding, a hashed version of the IP address is stored for no more than 1 hour.
2.3. Contacting potential business partners
- Data
- company name, contact person’s name and position, business e-mail address and phone number, source of the data, time and outcome of the contact.
- Source
- publicly available sources: companies’ own websites, the company register, social media pages, trade fair catalogues.
- Purpose
- contacting companies that sell fishing bait by phone or e-mail, presenting our product and proposing business cooperation.
- Legal basis
- our legitimate interest in finding new business partners (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We only send promotional newsletters with explicit consent.
- Retention
- if no business relationship arises within 1 year of the contact, the data is deleted. If you tell us you do not wish to be contacted again, your data is deleted immediately; we keep only the company name and a “do not contact” note so that we do not contact you again.
3. Cookies and visitor statistics
The Website does not use cookies and does not use any third-party analytics, advertising or social media tracking code. Fonts and images are served from our own server, so opening the Website does not transmit your data to third-party providers (such as Google or Facebook). The Facebook, Instagram and TikTok buttons are plain links: data reaches these services only if you click a link and go to their site.
We measure visits on our own server without cookies or any other identifiers: we only keep aggregated counters of how many times each page was opened per day, whether from a mobile or desktop device, and – if the visitor came by clicking a link on another website – that website’s domain name (e.g. google.com). No IP address, browser identifier or other individual data is recorded for this, so no one can be identified from these figures; they are not shared with third parties.
4. Who can access the data
Only those employees of Csali Hungária Zrt. who need the data to handle your enquiry have access to it. The provider hosting the Website and our e-mail accounts processes the data as our processor, solely on our instructions:

We do not sell your data or pass it on to third parties unless required by law (e.g. at the request of a court or authority). Data is stored within the European Union and is not transferred to third countries.
5. Data security
The Website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so the data you enter in the form reaches us encrypted. Access to the data is password-protected and limited to the staff who need it. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the data against unauthorised access, alteration and loss.
6. Your rights
You may at any time, free of charge, request:
- access – information on whether we process your data and, if so, which data (Art. 15 GDPR);
- rectification – correction of inaccurate or completion of incomplete data (Art. 16);
- erasure – deletion of your data where it is no longer needed or is processed unlawfully (Art. 17);
- restriction of processing, e.g. while a disputed matter is clarified (Art. 18);
- data portability – receipt of the data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format where processing is based on a contract (Art. 20);
- objection – to processing based on legitimate interest; we will then stop processing unless there are compelling legitimate grounds or legal claims (Art. 21).
Please send your request to info@maggotcompote.com or by post to our registered office. We will reply within one month; where justified this may be extended by two further months, in which case we will inform you. We may ask you to confirm your identity if necessary to fulfil the request.
We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling.
7. Remedies
If you believe we have infringed your data protection rights, please contact us first so that we can resolve the issue together. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority:

8. Other
The Website is intended for business partners (distributors, wholesalers, tackle shops); we do not offer services to persons under 16. We may amend this notice where necessary; the current version is always available on this page. The English and German versions are translations; in case of any discrepancy, the Hungarian version prevails.
